…and the drive slips through a cut in the bedrock, along the old Poughkeepsie & Eastern rail bed.
The drive runs the length of the old railroad bed, which is part of the property itself: about 1,730 feet from the gate to the clearing, with Wappinger Creek running below it to the east.
This model is built from 2022 USGS LiDAR and 50-cm satellite imagery. Every contour and treetop is measured, not drawn.
At the end of the rail bed the trees open onto a level clearing. It is the approved site for a barn with a one-bedroom apartment: septic system, well location and design were approved by the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health in June 2024.
The drive winds around a grove of tall pines to the main house site, a hilltop that looks down on the bends of Cold Spring Creek.

More than half a mile of Cold Spring Creek winds through the land, riffles and pools under the hardwoods, before meeting Wappinger Creek below the old railroad culvert, where a deep pool forms.
Old stone walls, two to three feet high, trace the boundaries. From anywhere on the property you cannot see another house.
Fly anywhere, switch between leaf-off and summer imagery or bare earth, and turn on the approved septic plan, contours and the spots where each photo was taken.
